the easiest way to explain how the laser tattoo removal works is this; when you get tattooed, the ink particles stays in the skin because it is too big for your tissue to remove. What the laser does is emit short, but powerful pulses of light that break the ink pigment into tiny particles, which are more easily removed by the body’s immune system during the weeks and months following laser treatment.

The number of laser treatments to remove the unwanted tattoo varies depends on the type of ink used, how deep the ink was injected and the location of the tattoo. Also, keep in mind that the professional tattoos are much harder to remove than the “street” tattoos. That is because the professionals use better quality ink and tattoo equipment to insure and minimize fading of the tattoo.

The color of the ink is a big factor in determining how many laser treatments you will need to remove the tattoo. Black and blue tattoos are the easiest to remove while the green and yellow pigments are the hardest.

The usual laser tattoo removal process would require anywhere from 4 to 12 laser treatments spaced out 5 weeks apart. These parameters can change so be sure to discuss this with your laser technician.

The laser treatment can be painful and usually the laser technician will apply or recommend a topical anesthetic or “numbing cream” to reduce your skin’s sensitivity to the laser pulses BEFORE the process starts.

Another thing to keep in mind is that laser tattoo removal can destroy hair follicles. So if you want to have a tattoo removed from an area where there is wanted hair growth, you may have to manually extract all follicles prior to treatment. Again, check with your laser technician to determine your exact risks.

Surprisingly in most areas, there are no license or certification required to operate a laser tattoo removal device. The lasers were originally designed for use by Doctors only — but recent modifications made this device simple enough for anyone to learn to use and perform.

Your laser technician should ask you several relevant questions about your medical history and currently prescribed medication. This is because certain medical conditions and medications would make exposure to the laser treatment dangerous to you.

You can expect to see some redness, swelling, blistering, bruising, pinpoint bleeding or scabbing in the treated areas. And the treated area will feel warm for a few hours after treatment.

Your laser technician will give you after care instructions like applying an ice pack for a hour or so… and keeping the treated area clean. The technician may tell you to stay out of the sun and avoid the tanning beds for a while.

The process does involve some pain and requires several treatments for success. There is always a chance the laser will leave a scar. There are several parameters that will determine how many laser treatments will be needed to remove your unwanted tattoo. Be mindful that there are no guarantees of a complete tattoo removal because of so many different brands of tattoo inks. And gradually, you will see your tattoo fade away.

Tattoos and tattoo removal have existed for ages. Since the time that tattoos were first used as a form of punishment or branding, people have sought ways to remove them. Fortunately these days, the decision to remove a tattoo is usually personal and related to one’s changing tastes and outlook on life.

Before lasers, tattoos were able to be removed in a number of ways, including salt-abrasion (salabrasion), dermabrasion, acid removal, or frank surgical excision. These methods were quite effective, but were painful and left scars. Laser tattoo removal originally started as a way to burn off a tattoo. Lasers such as the CO2 and argon lasers were used but were not much better than destructive surgical methods, leaving behind open wounds that had to heal over time. The advent of Q-switched lasers was a watershed moment in laser tattoo removal. These lasers work by a completely different mechanism than ablative lasers (the kind that destroy the skin). A q-switch is a super-fast shutter that allows the emission of a very short burst of laser light, in the nanosecond range. The light is also sent out at a very high energy, all packed into that short burst. The effect on the tattoo ink is similar to throwing an ice cube in a glass of warm water – it cracks. The heat of the laser is absorbed preferentially by the tattoo pigment, but it occurs faster than the ink particle can thermally expand, causing it to fracture into tiny pieces. These smaller pieces become small enough to be digestible by the immune white cells of the body and are taken away to distant areas. As this process is repeated, the tattoo becomes lighter and lighter, until it is virtually invisible.

Different ink colors respond differently to laser treatment. There are 3 q-switched lasers commonly used on the market today: Ruby, Alexandrite, and Nd:YAG. The ruby was the first q-switched laser and operates at a short wavelength of 690 nm. This makes it effective for blue and green tattoos more than for others, such as black or red. Alexandrite operates at 755 nm and is best for green tattoos. The YAG can be used at both 532 and 1064 nanometers, making it effective against both black and red tattoos, more than the other lasers. There are certain colors that seem more resistant to laser treatment than others, with any laser. These include yellow, pink, and purple.

Each laser tattoo removal treatment is fast. It may take half an hour or more to create a 3 inch tattoo, but a single laser session may last only 30 seconds! Typically, topical anesthetic is placed prior to the treatment or a small area may be injected with local anesthetic. After the treatment, there is occasionally blistering and bruising, but this is not necessary for the treatment to work. Treatments are usually done every 4-6 weeks. A single tattoo might be nearly gone after 3 treatments, but this is rare. More commonly, tattoos take 6-12 treatments. Some inks are resistant to laser tattoo removal, due to their chemical nature. This is the case with metal-oxide tattoo pigments, such as iron and titanium oxides. Although they are still removable, it takes many more treatments.Best laser tattoo removal in Abu Dhabi Medical Directory – Find the best laser tattoo removal in Abu Dhabi with reviews, cost, prices, contact details & telephone numbers. About UAE Medical Directory

UAE Medical Directory - Health and Medical Directory UAE. Directory listings of doctors, specialists, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and healthcare providers in United Arab Emirates. Directory of the best hospital, clinics, medical centers, doctors & medical services and treatments in UAE medical directory. Search healthcare establishments in UAE such as: clinics, medical laboratories, nursing homes and hospitals. Find healthcare professionals in UAE including: doctors, dentists, oral health therapists, pharmacists, nurses, allied health professionals, optometrists, opticians and surgeons. UAE most comprehensive listing of healthcare professionals including doctors, specialists, GP's, hospitals, healthcare, pharmacies, laboratories, nursing homes, patient support and pharmaceutical companies in United Arab Emirates. Medical Clinics, also known as outpatient clinics, or ambulatory care clinics, are health care facilities that specialize in non-life threatening outpatient treatment. While they can either be publicly or privately owned, they typically provide the majority of healthcare needs for their communities. Hospitals can cover a wide range of illness and ailments. They also have the technological capabilities and onsite staff to specialize in the most current treatments and diagnoses. However, hospitals are significant budget facilities and are more prone to encourage overnight stays. Outpatient clinics are more prone to promoting a quick diagnosis and medical treatment. With virtually the same level of expertise on staff and access to the same state-of-the-art medical equipment, outpatient clinics are more likely to have you treated and on your way in far less time. While medical clinics do offer many of the same benefits as hospitals, with less fuss, there are a few other factors to consider when making your decision to seek treatment in these health care facilities. The biggest factor to consider is perhaps the hours of the operation. Often, outpatient clinics are only open during regular business hours. As a result, if you are in need of urgent care outside of those hours of operation you will need to seek health care elsewhere. However, should you find yourself in need of urgent care during their hours of service, it may be worth it to seek medical treatment there instead of a hospital where the wait could cost unnecessary time.
